Welcome to Dimitri's family House!

The house was build by Dimitri's father in the early seventies, and has always been the families home-on-the-beach. Lately it is not used much anymore so the family decided to rent it out during the summer season.

In the seventies there were no roads to Agia Fotini beach, and all materials had to be brought by donkey... Some were too big, like the windows and doors, and were transported by boat from Triopetra. The donkey was probably not happy with this venture: the whole house is made of concrete!

Because the house was build as a summer place there is no inside living room. Instead there is a large and comfortable terrace with ample shadow. Inside a central kitchen is flanked by a bedroom on each side (each with one double and one single bed). On one side there is a basic bathroom. Running hot and cold water and electricitry is available.

That this is a family house can be seen in the various authentic details. The coat rack outside invites you to hang up your coat and step into the past.

A green oasis

A creek flows next to the house towards the Libyan sea, creating a green oasis throughout the year. The greenery provides a secluded and very private space, but also obstructs the view to the beach. A narrow path some 40 meters long connects this oasis with the pebble beach in front of the house.

This a a remote place... the murmur of the creek is mixed with the sound of crickets and the surf of the sea. A place that disconnects you from the hectic of modern life, a place to wind down and relax.

The sea at your doorstep!

A narrow path some 40 meters long connects the house to the pebble beach...

This place is unique. When you leave the green oasis one of the most beautiful parts of the south coast of crete embraces you. The Agia Fotia Taverna is 30 meters to the right, and to the left is Agia Fotini beach. In front: a pebble beach, a small (pebble) bay for children, rocks, cristal clear water. A dream come true!

A simple house

This house is typical for Crete in the seventies. An unpretentious place, lots of beds (sleeps 6), rustic kitchen and a basic bathroom. Don't expect a luxury villa, but you can count on a clean place with fresh beds and linen.

The family has used this place for 45 years during which lovely details have been added. Like this clock, which no longer works. This is typical: here time has stopped and you'll find that there no longer is such a thing as time, date or year...

Surroundings

Despite the remote location there is a superb taverna right around the corner, open all day. The nearest supermarket however is in Kerames, 10 minutes by car. Along the coast you will find some of the most beautiful beaches of Crete, including Triopetra and Agios Pavlos.
